The Effects of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR)-based Experiential Elements on Makeup Behavior

Abstract
This study attempted to investigate the effects of the perception of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) and AR & VR-based experiential elements on makeup behavior empirically and analyze the possibility and effectiveness of AR & VR-based makeup education. The study results found that the perception of AR & VR, AR & VR-based experiential elements and makeup behavior increased in hairdressing, makeup and nail styling as the school level rose. Therefore, it was confirmed that when respondents were in the lower school years, they had no feeling of rejection towards new cutting-edge technologies. It is anticipated that they would be effective in major-related courses in which visually sensitive responses are expected. Hence, it would be desirable to start AR & VR-based education in the lower school years and utilize it during hairdressing, makeup and nail care major-related courses.
