Abstract

Adenosine is internationally less recognized than retinol, but it has high stability and low stimulation. Thus it is frequently used as a cosmeceutical ingredient of cosmetics for the anti-wrinkle in Korea. So we examined 5 herb medicines that contain adenosine and finally selected Glehniae Radix cum Rhizoma in order to examine its value as a raw material for the cosmeceutical of anti-wrinkles. In vitro test, we knowed Glehniae Radix cum Rhizoma`s antioxidative activities and the inhibitory activation of elastase. In vivo clinical test, placebo and existing product had no significant anti-wrinkles in all area but the Glehniae Radix cum Rhizoma cream had no significant anti-wrinkles in forehead and crew`s feet (p<0.05). In conclusion, adenosine extracted from herb medicine is better in the effiency and safety of cosmetics than synthetic one and it will be used in variety of ways in the future as an ingredient of cosmeceutical.
