Jae Won Moon
Abstract
This study is the documentary records-research which considered and analyzed the hair style of the women who had the different backgrounds of the times like Liao, Jin, and Yuan dynasty. Due to the lack of the data related with the Chinese hair style, the study quoted much of the document about the history of traditional costumes, art history and art of China and Buddhism. According to the result from the research of the hair style of the women in Liao, Jin, and Yuan dynasty, the hair style had the traditional characteristic of the Conquest Dynasties, at first, however, as the nations thrived, it, especially the upper class women`s, changed with the interchange and assimilation from the Han race. Furthermore, in the hair ornaments style of each Dynasty, the tube-like ornaments like a handkerchief and a bonnet were found in common. This can be also considered as the influence from the former Dynasty through their cultural interchange by showing the similar form of the hair style. Although this research did not examine the whole features of the hair style in the Conquest Dynasties, by examining the nations having influenced on Chinese from 10C to 14C, it may be a little aid to the researcher studying the traditional hair style of the Chinese women.
