Abstract

The current study evaluates the capacity of Foeniculum vulgare water ex water extract(FWE) to regulate immediate allergic reaction by control of histamine release. FWE was found to exhibit a inhibitory activity on the compound 48/80-induced anaphylaxis. FWE inhibited the serum histamine release induced in anaphylaxis by conpound 48/80. FWE was also showed a dose-dependent activity on the conpound 48/80-induced histamine release from the highly purified population of Alcian Blue-positive peritoneal mast cells. This result suggest that FWE may be useful for the prevention and treatment of allergy related disease.
