Research Paper : A Effect of Foot Reflexology Massage on the Body Temperature and Peripheral Circulation in Korean Middle-aged Women

Abstract
Purpose
This study was to examine the effect of foot reflexology massage on the body temperature and peripheral circulation in Middle-aged women. Methods: A non equivalent control group pre-post test design was used. Participates women aged between 40 and 58 living in Busan city, 9 in the experimental group and 5 in the control group. Date was conducted from January 25, 2011 to March 27, 2011. Standard foot massage was performed for control and experimental group, after then foot reflexology massage was performed for experimental group only twice a week for 8 weeks for 25 min. at each session. The data was processed using the SPSS Win 12.0 program for chi-square test, independent t-test and paired t-test. Results: After foot reflexology massage in experimental group, Before- After change of temperature was proven in every department. Left-Right Change of temperature was proven in the abdomen of every department. The capillary condition was improved, but there would be proven only differential pulse wave index and blood vessel tension. Hemadsorption and the number of somatides in the blood became better then pretest, but there ware partially improved. Conclusion: The foot massage is extremely useful in rising temperature of circulation. Also, temperature balance between left and right, capillary condition and condition of blood vessel are partially improved.
