| Abstract |
|
Combining with other physical features, beard on men`s face plays an important role in the course of forming the image through harmony and emphasis of a certain part and it affects social image as well as image of him. Therefore, this study investigated social symbolism on beard according to time and ethnicity through historical consideration of image of men`s beard. Method of research referred to literatures and proceeding researches on beard and online articles related to beard, and we collected and analyzed photographic data of beards exposed on domestic men`s magazines and internet for better empirical analysis. As an effective guide of men`s facial impression according to the image of beard, this study is expected to be used as a scientific preliminary data. Moreover, the purpose of this study is to provide practical data that helps expressing images needed for character makeup by using the image of men`s beard. |
