Abstract
To examine the reality of Ultraviolet rays protection behavior and the usage of UV-protective products, a survey was carried out among a total of 310 male and female participants between the ages of 20s and 40s for 46 days, from October 1 to November 15, 2012. The results showed that the older ones are more likely to believe that deep wrinkles are highly related to ultraviolet rays, and women are more aware of the relation between ultraviolet rays and deep wrinkles than men are. Also, the older ones use sunscreen or other UVprotective products more than younger ones do. In addition, regardless of age and gender, sunscreen is most frequently used than any other cosmetic product. The participants who are the age of their 40s showed the highest awareness of ultraviolet rays, and the female participants showed higher awareness than the male participants. On the other hand, the younger ones showed higher degree of appearance management. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that early education about ultraviolet rays and UV-protective products as well as other programs be implemented more actively.
