Buseop Shin
Abstract
The study is to provide it as a basic study of using pine needle extracts in the field of natural functional hair growth improvement and its medical aspect in treatment improvement. A total of 60 5-week old C57BL/6(20~22 g) mice were epilated by having 1 week of adaptation period, and the 60 epilated mice were randomly distributed into 4 subgroups, 15 in each group, by following a randomized block design, and the extracts were dermal coated to perform tests in the field of molecular pathology, hematology, superoxide metabolism enzymatic activation and lipid peroxide content along with the measurement of organ weight, and the following results were acquired. Statistically significant difference (p<0.05) was observed between the positive control and the experimental groups (E1, E2), but no significant difference was observed between the test groups. Integrating the results, the pine needle extracts were found to have a significant effect on hair growth. The present study is considered useful in the development of hair growth improving agent and in the study of ingredients that show various efficacy. Therefore, it is considered necessary to perform further studies.
