| Abstract |
|
The purpose of this study was to examine the degree of coloration of lac pigment from application of the resulting natural dyes to discolored artificial hair. The results were as follows: The color of the Lac pigment was found to be influenced by pH. Higher acidity generally led to a stronger reddish tint, while higher alkalinity led to a decrease in red coloration and a stronger yellow tint. Dyeing with the Lac pigment resulted in a visible redness to the artificial hair, with some variation in color according to mordancy. Dyeing of artificial hair with Lac pigment was found to vary slightly according to degree of mordancy, dyeing temperature and time. Hair dyeing of lac pigments was found to very good to non-mordancy and pre-mordancy at 40oC for 30min, and after mordancy at 50oC for 20min.Fastness of shampoo and daylight following Lac pigment was found to vary good according to the treated or non-treated with mordant. |
