Research on the Effect of Leader-member Exchange(LMX) on Organizational Commitment in Beauty Industry: Focusing on the Hair Salon Employees

Efficient human resource management is essential to the beauty industry, as it is keep growing and becoming one of the typical service industries. In the beauty industry, by effort of efficient operation of organization, the importance of the cooperative relationship is gradually standing out, and leader-membership exchange (LMX), that consists mutual partnership, has been studied in many fields; however, studies about the beauty industry is hard to be found. Therefore, in this research, I surveyed from July 21st, 2015 to July 30th, 2015 on hair salons, which have largest employees in the beauty industry (Data from National Statistical Office, 2014), about effect of job satisfaction, self-efficacy and organizational commitment on leader-member exchange (LMX). By using SPSS 23, analysis of frequency, primary factor, reliability and regression have been proceeded. As a result, LMX indicated it has positive effect on job satisfaction, self-efficacy and organizational commitment. Also, job satisfaction and self-efficacy have positive effect on organizational commitment, and they are the intermediary between LMX and organizational commitment. Based on the result of the research, I want to propose new human resource management model and plan to increase organization commitment for the beauty industry, thereby expecting this research to be utilized as basic data for strengthening organization in the beauty industry.
