Cognition of Modern People for Tattoo and Utilities of Tattoo According to the Social and Cultural Properties

of this study is to evaluate general awareness for tattoos, impression for tattooing, and specific awareness for tattoo usefulness as beauty makeup tool of general peoples. Three hundred and four survey responses were selected from 315 responses that were obtained using the Google online survey for general people based on ages (from 16 to higher than 50), educational degrees, occupation types, and oversea travel experiences for 3 days from May 4th to May 7th 2016. The survey results were organized through data coding and cleaning process and response frequencies were statistically calculated using SPSS v 21.0 for Chi-square test on the basis of p<.05 level. 31-40 years old (28.0%), university graduate (27.4%), office workers (27.4%), and 1-5 times of oversea travel frequencies (44.0%) of survey subject peoples were relatively highest. Their awareness of tattoos showed a significant correlation with their age at the 95% reliability level (p=0.025-0.001), but the correlation with the educational history, occupation and oversea travel was a level that could dismiss the null hypothesis in some items (p<0.05). The image of tattoos showed a significant correlation (p<0.05) in all items, but no correlation was found with the educational history in all items. < Negative impression on tattoos > and showed a correlation with educational history, occupation and oversea travel experience. Based on the results above, awareness of tattoos, of the image of tattoos and usefulness of tattoos for beauty proportionately increased or decreased by the survey subject people`s age or showed a certain tendency by their age. This is assumed that the social trends or cultural tendency has a significant difference in different age groups. On the other hand, educational history, occupation and oversea travel experience did not have influence on awareness or impression on tattoos which is a kind of expressional culture.
