Abstract

This study was conducted to establish an educational plan to improve the major ability of female college students majoring in beauty by analyzing the achievement of major ability of female college students majoring in beauty. As a result of the analysis of overall major ability achievement, it was found in the order of creativity, communication, empathy (M=4.08), problem solving (M=4.02), and science and art convergence (M=3.86). As a result of the analysis by grade, there were statistically significant differences in overall major ability achievement, science and art convergence by major ability, problem solving, creativity, communication, and empathy, and higher grades were relatively higher than those of lower grades. As a result of analyzing the difference in major ability achievement by major, there were statistically significant differences in overall major ability achievement, science and art convergence by major ability, problem solving, and creativity, communication and empathy, and the case of cosmetics majors was relatively high compared to other majors. As a result of the analysis of the difference in major ability achievement according to the previous semester’s grades, there were statistically significant differences in overall major ability achievement in science and art convergence, problem solving, and creativity, communication, and empathy by major ability, and high grades were found to be high. In addition, as a result of the correlation analysis between sub-competencies of major ability, it was found that there was a correlation with each other.

I. 서 론

2020년 세계경제포럼은 4차 산업혁명 시대 교육의 수준을 높이기 위한 방안으로 새로운 교육 모델의 필요성 및 글로벌 교육 프레임 워크로 교육 4.0을 제시하였고(Cho & Koo 2023), 교육 4.0의 주요 특징이 포함된 교육혁신방향 8가지는 혁신과 창의 역량, 글로벌 시민 역량, 기술역량, 맞춤형 자기 주도 학습, 문제 기반 협력 학습, 접근성을 고려한 포용적 학습, 평생학습 및 학생중심학습이다. 세계 주요 국가들은 시대적 변화와 요구를 기반으로 하여 미래 인재 양성의 중요성에 대한 책무와 사회적 공감대를 형성하는 노력들을 기울이며 다양한 교육혁신을 시도하고 있다(Kim, 2020; Cho & Koo, 2023).

특히 2021년 교육부는 2022 교육과정의 주요사항에서 미래 인재를 포용성과 창의성을 갖춘 주도적인 사람으로 제시하였고(Ministry of Education, 2022), 미래사회를 선도할 수 있는 역량을 함양하여 성장할 수 있는 교육 체제의 혁신은 추진하였다. 2018년까지 교육부는 교육과정을 평가할 때, 대학이 핵심역량을 위해 기울인 노력에 대한 것에 주안점을 두었으며, 2021년 대학기본역량 진단에서는 대학이 전공능력의 향상을 위해 어떠한 노력을 기울였는가에 대한 평가가 중점적으로 이루어졌다. 또한 대학별 핵심역량 배양을 위한 전공 및 교양 교육과정과 비교과 프로그램의 연계성에 대한 진단도 실시되었다(Lee et al., 2022; Kim, 2023). 이렇듯 대학교육의 책무성 강화는 대학 교육이 변화될 수밖에 없는 물리적, 환경적 여건을 조성하게 되고, 미래사회 변화에 대응하며 사회의 주역이 되는 대학생을 위한 새로운 교육의 제공이 필요하게 된 것이다. 대학은 각각의 학과 및 전공에 따라 차별화된 전공능력을 설정하고 전공능력의 수준을 진단하며 성취도를 분석하여 전공능력을 향상시키도록 관리하여야 하며, 대학생은 전공능력을 향상시켜 자신의 비전과 가치를 증명하여야 한다. 따라서 전공능력이 각각의 정의에 맞게 설정되었는지, 대학의 인재상 및 비전과 연계되었는지, 대내∙외적 환경 및 학문의 변화, 학생의 요구를 수용하고 있는지, 전공 교육과정이 전공능력과 연계되어 있는지에 대한 점검이 필요하다. 또한 학과 및 전공에서 학문특성을 반영하여 지정된 전공 역량의 학습 성과에 대한 성취도 진단으로 학생들이 습득해야 할 지식, 기술, 태도 및 능력과 자질이 함양되었는지 진단하고 그 결과를 기반으로 전공교육과정을 개선할 필요가 있다. 이와 같이 전공능력과 전공능력 성취도에 대한 중요성을 인식하고 다양한 분야에서 연구가 꾸준히 진행되고 있다. 디자인 진로 및 전공능력(Gil & Park, 2006), 경제학과의 전공능력 차이 분석 연구(Kim & Kwon, 2023), 항공서비스 전공능력 진단연구(Kim et al., 2021), 공학전공 학생의 전공능력 성취도(Jang & Kim, 2013), 무용전공학생의 능력 성취도(Yeo & Son, 2023) 등 전공능력과 전공능력 성취도에 대한 연구가 꾸준히 진행되고 있으나 미용전공학생의 전공능력과 전공능력성취도에 대한 연구는 Son et al.(2021)과 Kim(2023)의 연구 외에는 전무하다. 따라서 본 연구는 미용을 전공하는 여대생의 전공능력 성취도를 분석하여 미용전공 여대생의 전공능력 향상을 위한 교육계획을 수립하는데 목적이 있다. 이는 미용전공 학생에게 필수적인 전공능력을 성취하여 미래 사회를 견인하는 미용 전문 인재 양성이라는 최종 목표를 달성하기 위함이다.

II. 이론적 배경

1. 전공능력 성취도

전공능력 성취도의 개념 파악에 앞서 능력(能力)이라는 개념을 정리하자면, 능력은 일을 감당해 낼 수 있는 힘을 말하고 영어로는 스킬(skill) 또는 어빌리티(ability)라고도 한다. 따라서 전공능력이란 단과대학 또는 학과 및 각 전공 관련 분야에서 요구되는 직무, 과업 및 역할 수행에 필수적인 지식, 기술, 태도를 의미하며, 전공능력 성취도란 학습자가 교육받은 내용을 기억, 재생하며 활용하는 정도에 대해 연구 도구를 사용하여 측정한 능력(Yang, 2017)이라고 하겠다. 학업성취의 개념은 학생의 학습 결과 및 성과로 정의되며(Yo, 2021), 시험과 평가를 통해 측정되는 학생 개인의 학습 성과는 학습몰입과 학습전이, 자기주도적 능력과 자기효능감과 관련이 있는 것으로 연구되었다(Lee et al., 2018). 따라서 전공능력 성취도 조사는 학습 성과를 높일 수 있는 전공교육과정을 편성, 운영한 다음 학습 성과의 달성도를 점검하기 위한 방법을 제공하는 등 교육 개선을 위한 선순환을 가능하게 하는 방법이 될 것이다(Cho, 2022).

III. 내용 및 방법

1. 조사대상 및 자료수집

본 연구는 G광역시 K대학의 미용전공 여대생을 대상으로 하였으며, 2023년 8월 1일부터 8월 11일까지 예비조사를 거친 후 외부전문가의 내용타당도 검증을 통해 문항을 수정∙보완하고 9월 4일부터 9월 11일까지 본 조사를 실시하였다. 구글을 활용하여 인터넷 설문을 실시하였으며 연구에 동의하여 조사에 참여한 인원 335명의 자료가 최종 분석 자료로 사용되었다. 여대생을 대상으로 한 것은 미용전공자의 대부분이 여성이기 때문이다.

2. 연구방법

본 연구는 미용의 분야를 4가지로 분류하여 헤어미용, 메이크업∙네일 미용, 피부미용, 화장품 전공 교수 4인이 선행연구를 참고하여 예비문항을 개발하였으며, 과학·예술 융합능력 영역은 Kim(2023), Kim(2019)의 연구와 국가직무능력표준(2017)을 참고하고, 문제해결능력은 Kim(2023), Hwang et al.(2015), Ko & Jung(2017)의 연구를 참고하였으며, 창의∙소통∙공감은 Kim(2023), Snug(2018), Kim(2016)의 연구를 참고하였다. 일반적 특성 3문항을 포함하여 총 81문항으로 구성된 설문지로 조사를 실시하였다.

3. 자료분석방법

본 연구에서는 SPSS v. 25.0 통계 패키지 프로그램을 활용하였다. 조사대상자의 일반적 특성은 빈도분석을 실시하였으며, 측정도구의 타당성은 탐색적 요인분석을 실시하여 검증하였고, 신뢰도 검증을 위해 Cronbach’s α 계수를 산출하였다. 조사대상자의 전공능력 성취도 분석을 위해 기술통계분석을 실시하였고, 연구대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 차이는 일원변량분석(One way ANOVA), 사후검정 방법으로는 Scheffé test를 실시하였다. 또한 전공능력 성취도의 상관관계를 파악하고자 상관관계 분석을 실시하였다.

IV. 결과 및 고찰

1. 조사대상자의 일반적 특성

조사대상자의 일반적 특성에 따른 빈도분석 결과는 Table 1과 같다. 분석결과 학년은 1학년 98명(29.3%), 2학년 78명(23.3%), 3학년 69명(20.6%), 4학년 90명(26.9%)으로 나타났고, 주 전공은 헤어미용 107명(31.9%), 메이크업&네일미용 104명(31.0%), 피부미용 87명(26.0%), 화장품 37명(11.0%) 순으로 나타났으며, 직전 학기 성적은 2.5 미만 21명(6.3%), 2.5-3.0 미만 54명(16.1%), 3.0-3.5 미만 81명(24.2%), 3.5-4.0 미만 91명(27.2%), 4.0 이상 88명(26.3%)으로 나타났다.

2. 측정도구의 타당성 및 신뢰도 검증

1) 과학·예술 융합능력의 타당성 및 신뢰도 검증

과학·예술 융합능력의 타당성을 검증하기 위한 요인분석 결과는 Table 2와 같다. Bartlett의 단위행렬 점검 결과 χ²=14888.748(df=496, p=.000), KMO값은 0.950이며, 총 3개의 요인이 전체 분산의 78.855%를 설명하는 것으로 나타났다.

각 하위요인을 살펴보면 요인 1은 ‘예술표현’ 요인으로 분산설명비율은 28.982%이고, 요인 2는 ‘위생관리’ 요인으로 분산설명비율은 26.418%, 요인 3은 ‘과학이해’ 요인으로 분산설명비율은 23.455%이며, 신뢰도 검증 결과 3개 요인의 Cronbach’s α 계수는 0.967~0.975로 나타나 신뢰도에는 문제가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

2) 문제해결능력의 타당성 및 신뢰도 검증

문제해결능력의 타당성 검증을 위한 요인분석 결과는 Table 3과 같다. Bartlett의 단위행렬 점검 결과 χ²=12215.4101(df=276, p=.000), KMO값은 0.951이고, 총 3개 요인이 전체 분산의 84.616%를 설명하는 것으로 나타났다. 각 하위요인을 살펴보면 요인 1은 ‘의사결정’ 요인으로 분산설명비율은 31.217%이고, 요인 2는 ‘서비스 지향성’ 요인으로 분산설명비율은 30.969%이며, 요인 3은 ‘미용인지’로 분산설명비율은 22.430%이다. 신뢰도 검증 결과 3개 요인의 Cronbach’s α 계수는 0.959~0.978로 신뢰도에는 문제가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

3) 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 타당성 및 신뢰도 검증

창의∙소통∙공감능력의 타당성 검증을 위한 요인분석 결과는 Table 4와 같다. Bartlett의 단위행렬 점검 결과 χ²=10067.091(df=231, p=.000), KMO값은 0.955로 총 3개 요인이 전체 분산의 83.036%를 설명하였다. 각 하위요인 중 요인 1은 ‘창업과 경영’ 요인으로 분산설명비율은 29.526%, 요인 2는 ‘의사 소통’ 요인으로 분산설명비율은 26.779%며, 요인 3은 ‘고객관리’ 요인으로 분산설명비율은 26.731%이다. 신뢰도 검증 결과 3개 요인의 Cronbach’s α 계수는 0.965~0.968로 나타나, 신뢰도에는 문제가 없는 것으로 나타났다.

3. 전공능력 성취도 분석

1) 전공능력 성취도

전반적인 전공능력 성취도 분석을 위한 기술통계 분석 결과는 Table 5와 같으며, ‘창의∙소통∙공감’(M=4.08), ‘문제해결’(M=4.02), ‘과학·예술 융합’(M=3.86) 순이며, 성취도는 평균 3.97점으로 나타났다. 각 전공능력별 살펴보면 과학∙예술 융합능력 성취도는 ‘예술표현’(M=3.92), ‘위생관리’(M=3.92), ‘과학이해’(M=3.69) 순이며, 전반적인 과학∙예술 융합능력 성취도는 평균 3.86점으로 나타났다. 문제해결능력 성취도는 ‘의사결정’(M=4.10)이 가장 높게 나타났고, ‘서비스 지향성’(M=3.98), ‘미용인지’(M=3.96) 순이며, 성취도는 평균 4.02점으로 나타났다. 창의∙소통∙공감능력 성취도는 ‘의사소통’(M=4.16), ‘고객관리’(M=4.15), ‘창업과 경영’(M=3.95) 순이며, 성취도는 평균 4.08점으로 나타났다. 과학∙예술 융합능력은 이론 수업이 주를 이루기 때문에 낮게 나타났다고 볼 수 있으며, 창의∙소통∙공감능력은 사람을 대상으로 하는 실습이 주를 이루기 때문에 높게 나타났다고 볼 수 있겠다. 또한 최근 산업 현장에서 강조하는 창의∙소통∙공감능력을 대학에서도 강조하고 있기 때문이라고 볼 수 있겠다.

2) 일반적 특성에 따른 전공능력 성취도 차이

(1) 학년에 따른 전공능력 성취도 차이

학년에 따라 전공능력 성취도에 차이가 있는지를 분석한 결과는 Table 6과 같다. 분석결과 전반적인 전공능력 성취도(F=7.827, p<.001)와 전공능력별 과학·예술 융합(F=12.412, p<.001), 문제해결(F=4.587, p<.01), 창의∙소통∙공감(F=4.436, p<.01)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 1, 2학년에 비해 3, 4학년이 상대적으로 높게 나타났다.

각 전공능력별 살펴보면 학년에 따라서 과학∙예술 융합 능력의 하위능력별 과학이해(F=22.042, p<.001), 위생관리(F=9.940, p<.001), 예술표현(F=5.448, p<.01)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 1, 2학년에 비해 3, 4학년이 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 또한 문제해결능력의 하위능력별 미용인지(F=5.193, p<.01), 서비스 지향성(F=5.145, p<.01)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 1, 2학년에 비해 3, 4학년이 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 하위능력별 고객관리(F=5.322, p<.01), 창업과 경영(F=7.696, p<.001)에 대해 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 1, 2, 4학년에 비해 3학년이 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 이는 학년이 올라갈수록 성취도가 높다는 Lee & Kang(2017)의 연구와 관련이 있다.

(2) 전공에 따른 전공능력 성취도 차이

전공에 따른 전공능력 성취도 차이 분석 결과는 Table 7과 같다. 분석결과 전반적인 전공능력 성취도(F=10.707, p<.001)와 전공능력별 과학·예술 융합(F=9.491, p<.001), 문제해결(F=8.877, p<.001), 창의∙소통∙공감(F=10.581, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 피부미용, 헤어미용, 메이크업&네일미용 전공에 비해 화장품 전공의 경우 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 각 전공능력별로 전공에 따라서 과학∙예술 융합능력의 하위능력별 과학이해(F=5.059, p<.01), 위생관리(F=9.405, p<.001), 예술표현(F=10.562, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 피부미용, 헤어미용, 메이크업& 네일미용 전공에 비해 화장품 전공의 경우 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 또한 문제해결능력의 하위능력별 미용인지(F=9.623, p<.001), 의사결정(F=5.862, p<.01), 서비스 지향성(F=8.047, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 피부미용, 헤어미용, 메이크업& 네일미용 전공에 비해 화장품 전공의 경우 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 하위능력별 고객관리(F=13.754, p<.001), 창업과 경영(F=7.996, p<.001), 의사소통(F=6.429, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 피부미용, 헤어미용, 메이크업&네일미용 전공에 비해 화장품 전공의 경우 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 이는 전공별로 전공능력 성취도 차이가 나타나지 않는다는 Kim(2023)의 연구와는 차이가 있으며, 전공 능력 성취도의 고른 향상을 위해 전공별 교육계획의 재정리 및 관리가 필요하다.

(3) 직전 학기 성적에 따른 전공능력 성취도 차이

직전 학기 성적에 따른 전공능력 성취도 차이 분석 결과는 Table 8과 같다. 분석결과 전반적인 전공능력 성취도(F=12.463, p<.001)는 전공능력별 과학·예술 융합(F=14.057, p<.001), 문제해결(F=7.409, p<.001), 창의∙소통∙공감(F=15.185, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 2.5 미만, 2.5-3.0 미만에 비해 3.0-3.5 미만, 3.5-4.0 미만, 4.0 이상의 경우 높게 나타났다. 각 전공능력별로 전공에 따라서 과학∙예술 융합능력의 하위능력별 과학이해(F=17.946, p<.001), 위생관리(F=10.351, p<.001), 예술표현(F=8.616, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 2.5 미만, 2.5-3.0 미만, 3.0-3.5 미만에 비해 3.5-4.0 미만과 4.0 이상의 경우 높게 나타났다. 또한 문제해결능력의 하위능력별 미용인지(F=9.742, p<.001), 의사결정(F=3.633, p<.01), 서비스 지향성(F=8.349, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 2.5 미만, 2.5-3.0 미만에 비해 3.0-3.5 미만, 3.5-4.0 미만, 4.0 이상의 경우 높았다. 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 하위능력별 고객관리(F=13.897, p<.001), 창업과 경영(F=13.237, p<.001), 의사소통(F=10.534, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 2.5 미만, 2.5-3.0 미만에 비해 3.0-3.5 미만, 3.5-4.0 미만, 4.0 이상의 경우 높게 나타났다. 이는 전공능력 성취도가 학업성취도와 관련이 있다는 Son et al.(2021)의 연구와 일치하는 결과이다.

4. 상관관계 검증

전공능력간 상관관계를 알아보기 위한 상관관계 분석 결과는 Table 9와 같다. 분석결과 과학·예술 융합능력은 문제해결능력(r=.851, p<.001), 창의∙소통∙공감능력(r=.808, p<.001)과 통계적으로 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있었고, 문제해결능력은 창의∙소통∙공감능력(r=.889, p<.001)과 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있었다.

전공능력의 하위역량간 상관관계를 알아보기 위하여 상관관계 분석을 실시한 결과는 Table 10과 같다. 분석결과 과학·예술 융합능력의 하위역량별 과학이해, 위생관리, 예술표현은 문제해결능력의 하위역량별 미용인지, 의사결정, 서비스 지향성과 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있었고(p<.001), 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 하위요인별 고객관리, 창업과 경영, 의사소통과도 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있었다(p<.001). 또한 문제해결능력의 하위역량별 미용인지, 의사결정, 서비스 지향성은 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 하위요인별 고객관리, 창업과 경영, 의사소통과도 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있었다(p<.001). 이는 미용전공 여대생이 과학·예술 융합능력, 문제해결능력, 창의∙소통∙공감능력이 학교와 산업 현장에서 유용하다고 인지하는 것이라 볼 수 있고, 특히 문제해결능력의 하위역량별 미용인지, 의사결정, 서비스 지향성과 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 하위요인별 고객관리, 창업과 경영, 의사소통이 실무에서 경쟁력 강화 및 창의력 증진에 도움이 된다는 결과를 얻은 Park & Jung(2015), Son et al.(2021)의 연구와 관련 깊다.

V. 결 론

본 연구는 미용을 전공하는 여대생의 전공능력 성취도를 분석하여 미용전공 여대생의 전공능력 향상을 위한 교육계획을 수립하고자 진행되었다. 전반적인 전공능력 성취도 분석 결과 창의∙소통∙공감(M=4.08), 문제해결(M=4.02), 과학·예술 융합(M=3.86) 순으로 나타났다. 학년에 따른 분석 결과는 전반적인 전공능력 성취도(F=7.827, p<.001)와 전공능력별 과학·예술 융합(F=12.412, p<.001), 문제해결(F=4.587, p<.01), 창의∙소통∙공감(F=4.436, p<.01)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 1, 2학년에 비해 3, 4학년이 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 전공에 따른 전공능력 성취도 차이 분석 결과 전반적인 전공능력 성취도(F=10.707, p<.001)와 전공능력별 과학·예술 융합(F=9.491, p<.001), 문제해결(F=8.877, p<.001), 창의∙소통∙공감(F=10.581, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 타 전공에 비해 화장품 전공의 경우 상대적으로 높게 나타났다. 직전 학기 성적에 따른 전공능력 성취도 차이 분석 결과 전반적인 전공능력 성취도(F=12.463, p<.001)는 전공능력별 과학·예술 융합(F=14.057, p<.001), 문제해결(F=7.409, p<.001), 창의∙소통∙공감(F=15.185, p<.001)에 대해 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있었으며, 학점이 낮은 경우보다 높은 경우 높게 나타났다. 또한 전공능력의 하위역량 간 상관관계 분석 결과, 과학·예술 융합능력의 하위역량별 과학이해, 위생관리, 예술표현은 문제해결능력의 하위역량별 미용인지, 의사결정, 서비스 지향성과 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있었고(p<.001), 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 하위요인별 고객 관리, 창업과 경영, 의사소통과도 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있었다(p<.001). 문제해결능력의 하위역량별 미용인지, 의사결정, 서비스 지향성은 창의∙소통∙공감능력의 하위요인별 고객관리, 창업과 경영, 의사소통과도 유의미한 정(+)의 상관관계가 있었다(p<.001).

본 연구를 통하여 미용 전공 여대생의 전공능력 성취도를 확인한 결과 과학∙예술 융합능력은 비교적 낮고, 창의∙소통∙공감능력은 높게 나타났으며, 고학년이 저학년보다 전공능력 성취도가 높게 나타났다. 또한 전공별로 전공능력 성취도 차이가 있고, 성적이 높을수록 성취도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이론 수업이 주가 되는 과학∙예술 융합능력 성취도를 높이고, 저학년부터 전공능력 성취도를 높일 수 있는 다양한 교수법이 시도되어야 할 것이다. 또한 전공능력의 하위역량이 서로 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타나 전공역량의 설정이 적합하며, 성취도를 측정하기에 타당한 것을 확인할 수 있었다.

본 연구는 G광역시 K대학교 미용전공 여대생을 대상으로 진행된 연구이므로 일반화하는 데는 무리가 있다. 또한 전공 능력 성취도가 학업에 미치는 다양한 변수들과의 관계를 규명할 필요가 있을 것이므로 후속 연구에서는 전공능력 성취도와 교수학습방법, 교육과정 등의 관계를 분석하는 연구가 진행되어야 할 것이다.
