Abstract |
Hair loss, a common and genetically predisposed symptom among the people, commences at any age after puberty. It may significantly affect a variety of psychological and social experiences and individual`s appearance satisfaction. One of the main purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between socio-demographic characteristics of people who are suffering alopecia and their degree of appearance satisfaction. A total of 220 people with hair loss had a survey which was made up of questionnaires related to the hair loss: knowledge of alopecia, classification of androgenetic alopecia and appearance satisfaction including basic personal information. This study confirms that hair loss has significant impacts on the peoples` overall appearance satisfaction. As a result, females and young people generally had lower satisfaction degree on their appearance compared with males and old people, respectively. |
