Kee Jung Barng, Ju Duck Kim
Abstract
Digital technology has taken off like a new paradigm in our contemporary society. This study seeks to analyze public awareness about the cosmetics and perfumery market as well as various preferential tendencies to the ever-changing cosmetics products and industry. The results of this analysis will be a crucial means to forecast the future of the cosmetic market and industry. Based on procedures and methodology proposed herein, the results of this study are summarized as follows: First, it was found that most respondents focused on clear skin expressions for makeup, emphasized skin care and needed to improve their makeup skills. Many respondents stated that they have never been properly instructed in applying makeup. Second, it was found that most respondents regarded multi-cosmetics as convenient and preferred multi-purpose functional cosmetics as a favorite. They considered ``multi-functional cosmetics`` and ``blemish balm cream`` as typical cosmetics in this digital era. But they pointed out both advantages and disadvantages of incorporating multiplex functions in one product for daily use, and recognized that the broadcast media has a major influence on makeup trends as well as in the development of new cosmetic products.
Key Words: Digital, Cosmetic Culture, Convergence, Multi-Functional Cosmetics
