Research Paper : A Study on Make-Up Reproduction through Taking Pictures
Jong Wook Kim
Abstract
In the internet and magazines, there are many photographs presented by makeup artists, users, and advertisers of cosmetics. These photographs sometimes do not provide the images of tones and colors of makeup that we can see from the real objects. These photographs present the colors and brightness quite different from the real objects due to wrong photographing. The wrong photographing comes from the incorrect understanding of the process of photographing and lighting. Different lighting and photographing gets different images of colors and tones of makeup. This study provides photographing tests by showing how differently the images of makeup are shown in photographs depending on the ways of photographing and lighting. Based on the tests, this study introduces the photographing technique, which may result in the images of photographs close to the real objects. Understanding the correct photographing and lighting process enables makeup artists not only to adjust their makeup to the images of photographs but also to take photographs by themselves to get real images of makeup.
