Abstract
The research examined the effects of aroma essential oils blending on academic achievement of high school freshmen. The mixture of rosemary, peppermint, basil, lemon and jojoba aroma essential oil was employed. These oils have been known considerably effective to relax and reduce stress. Those treated by oil fragrance would be expected to get better score in academic achievement than those untreated. The number of experimental group and that of controlled group was 100 respectively. The results showed that essential oils therapy was effective especially in the subjects that need short-term and extensive memorizing. It made no significant differences in other subjects. Female students showed more affirmative results than male students when it comes to academic achievement. Those who experienced aroma therapy was more positive than those who never experienced before. The former got better scores than the latter. It is necessary that more exact and broader study should be made to confirm the effectiveness of aroma essentials in reducing psycho logical stress and elevating quality of life.
