Research Paper : A Study of Hair Ornaments in the Ancient Egypt
Nam Hee Kim
Abstract
The ancient Egyptian hair styles on the carvings, frescos, and other remains excavated from their tombs seem very delicate and refined and we can see that it would have taken a while to complete the style. In the ancient Egypt, everyone used a wig or braided hair, or created spiral curl using the old-styled curling iron or woven their hair like a net. Otherwise, they ornamented their hair with gold, beads, or jewels. The permanent value of the ancient style can be confirmed through its regular revival over the times, and we can see their passion and longing for youth from it. This study aims to categorize the hair styles and ornaments which were shown on the carvings, epitaphs, and frescos in their graves and make a stepping-stone for suggesting new trends.
Key Words: Acient Egyption, Wig, Ornament
