The purpose of this study aimed to understand how undergraduates` interest in appearance affected the efficacy of image making. To this end, 340 copies of a questionnaire were distributed to students of S University in Seoul and a total of 311 copies were used for the final analysis, excepting 29 that had insufficient answers. The results showed that both male and female students had a keen interest in appearance and the sub-categories of this interest were: interest in clothes; skin and changes in looks; figures. With regard to the efficacy of image making, men and women both had high scores with little difference in the scores. On the other hand, with regard to sub-factors related to the efficacy of image making: an attitude of awareness (t = -3.060, p<.01); ability to manage facial expressions (t = -3.954, p<.001), in these cases women had much higher scores than men.
