Abstract

In the past, bodypainting was not generalized to the public domestically due to its sensationalism of nudity but it is gradually approaching to the public on the occasion of the 2002 World cup. The purposed of this study is to investigate the characteristics of utilized colors using bodypainting works since the 2000s. For the study a total of 461 systemic front pieces were selected from the exhibited works in four festivals for 5 years from 2007 to 2011. The overall concussions of this study are as follows. First, PB (purple blue), Y (yellow) and YR(yellow red) were generally used in the bodypainting. Second the color tone that was mainly used in the Bodypainting is b (bright) color tone. Since b color tone gives vivid impression in fashion, it becomes the design that symbolizes youth, and is used the central hue of the brand a lot. Unlike existing researches on expression techniques and works, this study investigated the color use and color characteristics used in bodypainting. In addition, the results of this study could be utilized as the basic system for efficient bodypainting design wo.
