|
Smilax china (S. china) is extensively used in traditional medicine for detoxication, dermatitis, nephrititis, and anticonvalunts. So that, the aims of the current study were to assess the antibacterial activities of S. china on cosmetical grounds using the water and ethanol extract, 4 kinds of fractions. Staphylococcus (S.) aureus, S. epidermidis and Propionibacterium (P.) acnes were cultured in aerobic and anaerobic condition and the antibacterial activities were observed by paper disc diffusion methode. In the result, S. china water extract formed smaller clean zone in S. aureus than the positive control gentamycin (GM), but no antibacterial activities against S. epidermidis and P. acnes.
