The Effects of Cosmetic Carbonic Water Application on Health of the Scalp in Young Men
Na-young Kim, Hyun-sook Bae
Abstract
In order to analyze the effect of cosmetic carbonated water on the health status of the scalp, eighteen male subjects in their 20s and 30s were divided into experimental group(N=9) and control group(N=9). For the experimental group, commercial shampoo and carbonated water for cosmetics were applied to the scalp. For the control group, only normal commercial shampoos were used. The experiment was performed for a total of 5 weeks to measure scalp erythema, keratin, and hair density and the scalp condition was compared. As for scalp erythema, the experimental group using cosmetic carbonic water showed greater improvement in the 10 cm prefrontal region(p<.01), in the temporal region(p<.001), and in the posterior region(p<.01) than the control group after the experiment. As for the scalp keratin, the experimental group using cosmetic carbonic water showed greater improvement in the 10 cm prefrontal region(p<.05) than the control group after the experiment. As for the changes in hair density, the experimental group showed higher hair density than the control group, with significant inter-group differences found in the 5 cm and 10 cm prefrontal regions(p<.05). The visual test of the scalp conditions found that the experimental group using cosmetic carbonic water showed a clearer tone of the scalp and an improvement of inflammation after the experiment.
