Abstract

This study was examin the potential of Persicaria thunbergii extracts as physiologically active cosmetic ingredients. Ethanol and hot-water extracts of P. thunbergii were examined by 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging method for antioxidant activity, MTT assay for cell viability in RBL-2H3 and RAW 264.7 cells, paper diffusion assay for anti-microbial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and Propionibacterium acnes, inhibition of nitric oxide (NO) production for anti-inflammatory effect and inhibition of
