A Study of Response Characteristics of Nail Make-up Psychology Depending on Menopausal Symptoms in Middle-aged Women

Abstract
This study aimed to comparatively analyze differences in the response characteristics of nail make-up psychology depending on middleaged women`s menopausal symptoms. For this, a survey was conducted from July to September 2013 with a total of 245 married mothers ages 40 to 59 living in Busan. The menopausal symptom scale and nail psychology scale were used. Cross tabulation analysis was conducted using a SPSS 20.0 program. The study results found the following: First, in terms of nail perception factors, significant differences were found in interest, satisfaction and psychological utility. Second, regarding nail color psychology, response characteristics of cold colors, dark colors and low saturation were higher in the menopausal group than in the control group in terms of nail color. Third, in terms of nail expression psychology, significant differences were observed in the nail expression and nail texture. In conclusion, this study unveiled differences in the psychological responses toward nails depending on middle-aged women`s menopausal symptoms. It is expected that the study results will be used for the expression and analysis of the response characteristics of nail psychology and useful as basic follow-up study data for nail psychology therapy.
