Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the differences among stress factors according to MBTI personality types of cosmetology department Freshmen and to provide basic data for the development of college life adaptation program. The results are as follows. First, the most common characteristics of freshmen in beauty college were those under 20 years old, females, students without school, and school. Second, ESFJ type was the most frequent among 16 MBTI personality types, and according to preference, outward type (E), sensory type (S), emotion type (F), judgment type (J), and SF (sensory emotion type) The most common type of sensory judgment was SJ. Third, the stress difference according to MBTI personality type was 2.28 points in total, showing the difference in stress scores between personality types. Among them, ESFP had the highest stress level, and it would be helpful to induce early adaptation by applying an interesting and active experience- based program rather than emphasizing the norms of college life in the beginning of freshmen. Fourth, the MBTI personality type and stress factors showed a significant inverse correlation. The factors with high stress levels were future, values, and academics, and the lowest levels were heterosexual friends and family. It is necessary to follow-up studies such as academic adaptation programs and counseling guidance manuals that reflect the characteristics of freshmen by personality type.
