Research Paper : A Study on Characteristics of Maximalism in Make-up

Abstract
Amidst a flow that modern people prefer diversity and newness in the segmented symbol, the phenomenon of maximalism in cultural art is appearing. The purpose of this study is to suggest data in the formative aspect by analyzing the modern make-up trend and predicting a future change through closely examining characteristics and formative beauty in maximalism, which was shown in modern make-up. Due to the modern people`s needs for diversification, individualization, and specialization, it was developed into a flow of period, which pursues mixture, compromise, diversity, and newness in cultural art. Thus, the phenomenon of maximalism was indicated in make-up and fashion. The maximalism in make-up has the expansion-oriented characteristic, which has background as formation in glocalization, E-businessman, and hybrid. As a result of analyzing the formative beauty in maximalism, which appeared in make-up, it showed the formative beauty in ethnic, retro, image of mixing mainstream and anti-mainstream, romantic, and the avant-garde image. All are being expressed by being mixed and compromised the multi-cultural sensitivity of pursuing diversity and individuality and the experimental creativity of pursuing newness. This characteristic in maximalism can be said to reflect the natural image of a human being, who seeks for bright and ample life by emphasizing and positively accepting complex and diverse concepts with a hope and expectation for the new millenium era while destroying confusion, inconsistency, and dual looks at the end of a century.
