Research Paper : The Effects of Rosemary Tea and Essential Oil on the Serum Lipids and on the Anti-oxidant Ability of the Smoking University Students

Abstract
Thirty male and female smoking students, who understood and agreed the purpose of this study, have selected and have divided into three groups containing 10 students each. This study is focused on the improved anti-oxidative nutrition, particularly about drinking rosemary tea and inhaling the essential oil, which can worked on the lipids in blood such as triglyceride, total-cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, anti-oxidative enzymes such as glutathione peroxidase, catalase and vitamin C, total anti-oxidant status, malondialdehyde in the blood and in the urine. Results of this study are as follows. It showed a significant increases of the anti-oxidative enzyme GPx, Cat, and the anti-oxidative vitamin C. And also it showed a significant decreases of the MDA in the blood and in the urine. Particularly, there was a significant positive effects on Cat increases and in the urine MDA decreases for both experimental group A(RT Rosemary Tea Group), who drank rosemary tea only, and the experimental group B(RTO Rosemary Tea & Essential Oil Group), who had rosemary and the essential oil. Therefore, It can be confirmed that the rosemary tea and the essential oil have positive effects for the young female and male smoking university students.
