Research Papaer : A Study on the Interest for Beauty Care According to Gender

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine and make a contribution to effective market segmentation and to working out marketing strategics for the beauty business by investigating university students` interests in their appearance and their behaviors of cosmetics purchase focused on hair, skin care, cosmetic, beauty surgery and makeup according to gender. The data was collected and analyzed from 175 university Students from freshman to juniors in Seoul and Daejeon. The data analysis shows the factors significantly related to the beauty interest were gender. The data was analyzed by using SPSS for Windows. Through this study, the following conclusions could be made: university students showed interest toward beauty care attitude and behavior. First, a significant difference was found in beauty experience attitudes towards scalp care, face skin care, body skin care, nail care, cosmetic surgery and makeup according to gender. Second, a significant difference was found in the tendency of cosmetics purchase, brand, new products, trust according to gender.
