Abstract
As long as exterior features are concerned, hairline shape and forehead size account for very considerable portions. That is why our contemporaries tend to create desired hairline in artificial ways, and cover or even preen themselves on born hairline with the artificial hairstyle. It has been well known that the favorable operation of hairstyle requires identification of correct hairline because of various hairline patterns, and there are deep associations between hairline and facial contour for hairstyling. However, the hairline has been not gauged in any standard manner, so this study is intended to examine into any possible association of frontal hairline with frontal facial contour. Accordingly, the type-based average values of frontal hairline indicate that the width or height of forehead has more or less significant influences on facial contour. That is, low forehead is associated with short-looking face and leads to wide-looking facial contour like full moon, while high forehead is associated with long-looking face and leads to oval-looking facial contour like egg. Moreover, narrow forehead is associated just with larger-looking face, while wide forehead is associated with pointless and round facial contour. In addition, it also varies depending upon facial shape. And in upper facial part with hairline, it is found that facial contour depends significantly on forehead width or length. Therefore, the hairline is very critical to hairstyling; the failure in the correct judgment of hairlines could be that in hairstyling. This study addressed any possible association among frontal hairline as born hairline and facial contour. But it will be required to carry on with studies in hairline across wider populations than now by age, sex, region, etc., so as to find out possible associations with beauty hairline for the benefit of their applications.
