| Abstract |
Purpose
Interests on the beauty meridian massage (BMM) as a supplementary therapeutic procedure have been rapidly increasing in the well-being and health promotion field. This study was conducted to build-up the fundamental data to activate and establish through assessment the current cognitions, status of utilization and satisfaction of the customers on BMM. Methods: Subjects were the 300 women who visited the 7 salons and had experienced BMM in Busan city. The data about the cognitions, status of utilization and satisfaction on the experienced BMM collected through a questionnaires survey from November 1st to December 1st in 2010. Data analysis was performed using SPSS (ver. 18.0, Chicago, Illinois, USA) with chi-square t-test and ANOVA. Results: Major route of cognition were the estheticians (45.0%). The esthetician`s knowledge and skills (60.0%) was firstly considered when choosing the salon. As the satisfaction, most preferred type was naked hand meridian massage (40.0%), and the subjective improved effects were improved troubled skin (56.7%). As satisfaction for the estheticians, the knowledge level was significanltly lower than the skill level (p<0.0001). The higher requirements for the estheticians were attitude of faith and support emtional stability (37.3%). Conclusion: Nevertheless the higher requirements for their professionalism, the satisfaction level for knowledge level was still low. Efforts to strengthening education and training to promote the professionalism and to determine the optimum price corresponding quality of the services would be required. BMM should be considered as treatment in legal atmosphere and need standard programs systematically and necessities broadening choices for the better service in treat clients. |
