| Abstract |
|
Tremella fuciformis Berk has been very popularized because it has been known to prevent not only cancer and aging but also hypertension and arteriosclerosis. This study investigated changes of hair follicle and hair condition after breeding mice to five months corresponding to the 20s for humans, giving them stress for two months and breeding them again to totally 18 months corresponding to the 60s for humans and examined the protective effect of aqueous extracts from Tremella fuciformis Berk (Tf AE) by evaluating changes of hair follicle and hair condition at 60s following stress at 20s. According to the results, not only aging but also stress experienced for a certain period of time(S-18) showed a negative effect on hair follicle tissue of decreasing significantly the density and the size of hair follicles and the length and the size of hairs compared to the control group(C-18) bred to 18 months with no stress. And, taking Tf AE during stress significantly inhibited the decrease of the density and the size of hair follicles and the length and the thickness of hairs of mice. Therefore, stress received for a certain period of time at young ages provoked hindrance of the growth of hairs by decreasing the density and the size of hair follicles and the length and the thickness of hairs to old ages and the intake of Tf AE to respond to stress for a certain period of time significantly protected the density and the size of hair follicles and the length and the thickness of hairs to old ages. All of these results showed that stress experienced for a certain period of time influenced negatively hair follicle for a long time to old ages, eating Tf AE protected hair follicle and hairs from these negative changes to some degree and the protective effect was observed continuously. |
