Research Paper : A Study on the Body Expression Found in Ancient Artifacts over the Periods of the Prehistoric Times and the Three Kingdoms

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to identify how Korean expressed and evaluated their face and hair style through ancient artifacts over the period between the prehistoric times to the ancient Three Kingdom and to make a visual presentation of the hair style found in the literature but unknown in its concrete form. Accordingly, it attempted to make a dimensional analysis of the face and hair style of ancient Koreans to broaden an understanding of the beauty of the human body indigenous to the Korean through diverse artifacts other than the plane-shaped. The analysis of body expression found in artifacts over the period between the prehistoric times and the Three Kingdoms showed that they included the human body carved in stone, the human body made out of earth, the human body carved in bone implement and the human body found in bronze relics. This study attempted to analyze the face and hair style of the Koreans found in ancient artifacts by dividing them into those of the male adults, those of the female adults, those of children and those of foreigner. Physical beauty in the aesthetic consciousness found in the hair style of the Korean found expression as the beauty of hair, the beauty of lock and the beauty of decoration. An attempt was made to analyze inner beauty by dividing it into naturalism, the acceptance of others, harmony with faith and the freewheeling.
